Radio Taxis Group offer a one stop shop for ground transportation needs.
Government emissions
London has the worst air quality in the UK and air pollution is estimated to cause 1,600 premature deaths every year.
The Mayor’s Air Quality Strategy, announced in December 2004, identified London Taxis as a highly polluting sector of London’s transport. The strategy requires all taxis to achieve Euro 3 emissions standard (or better) by 30th June 2008.
The strategy is part of the London Low Emission Zone Initiative. Taxis can meet the minimum standard through:
- Upgrading vehicles
- Converting engines to operate on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
- The fitting of exhaust emissions abatement technology
The Public Carriage Office (PCO) will be implementing the Mayor’s strategy in two phases and taxis will be required to have either PCO/Energy Saving Trust approved emissions reduction equipment fitted, or undergo an approved conversion to run on alternative fuels.
PHASE 1 Pre-Euro or Euro 1 emissions standard taxis to comply by July 2006 (excluding Metrocabs)
PHASE 2 Euro 2 emissions standard taxis to comply by July 2007 (excluding Metrocabs)
No vehicle will be licensed after 30th June 2008 unless it is of Euro 3 emission level or better.
