Radio Taxis, London’s leading black cab company, have shown their ‘environmentally friendly’ colours by scooping a prestigious award at the renowned GreenFleet Awards – this year held at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in SE1. Recognised as the best in their field, Radio Taxis CEO, Geoffrey Riesel, picked up the ‘Energy Saving Trust best Practice Award’ at the ceremony held on 22nd September amid an audience of over 200 people.

Having implemented a comprehensive emissions reduction plan and invested in excess of £100,000 per annum to offset unavoidable carbon emissions there really was one very clear winner. The brand new green logo is representative of the new Radio Taxis ethos to ensure they implement the most efficient environmental policies in the taxi sector. The company is also investing in various sustainable energy projects around including solar panels in Sri Lanka and India demonstrating a responsible attitude to the future of transport.

Says the EST "The Energy Saving Trust selected those organisations which it felt had taken a new look at how they could offset their impact on the environment, and had turned that to their commercial advantage. Radio Taxis in particular have championed the idea of a carbon neutral fleet and been committed to piloting innovative technology. They have also raised a great deal of awareness about what they have been doing which will show the way for other organisations."

Says Geoffrey Riesel, Chairman of the Radio Taxis Group, “We are very pleased to have won this award which recognizes the company as a leading innovator.  It also means that our clients and potential clients benefit as every journey they make with us is CarbonNeutral® and therefore plays a part in helping to fight Climate Change."
